Back in the hands of the District Court according to news.com (also see the /. commentary). Seems like more of a MS victory than one for the University of California to me, despite what the UC spokesperson says. It’ll be very interesting to see where this goes – i’ll just be happy if i don’t have to change my code as a result of someone else’s greed.

GREEDY Eolas is simply taking advantage of the weakness in the patent system. If a zillion people think of an idea at the same time and the one that goes to the patent office a millisecond sooner gets rewarded with millions of dollars, then it’s time to change the patent system. If the politicians are not willing to change it, then it’s time to change the politicians (is that in our hands!?)
MS has published code snippets to bypass this restriction. I’m sure somebody will post a eolaskiller.js script to automatically remove the embedded controls and reinsert them programmatically.
I wonder if IE can legally block users from visiting eolas.com.
