SALT goes live – Southern African Large Telescope

SALT is the largest (optical) telescope in the southern hemisphere, and was built here in South Africa. On the 1st of September, they released the first images from the telescope to the public (official launch date is November 10th). First light imagery even made APOD on the 5th :-)

South African Space Agency
