SIRTF online

NASA's Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF, launched on August 25th) has been partially activated - and some initial pictures taken (apparently it will take a month to focus the orbiting telescope, and cool it to its proper operating temperature - a few degrees above absolute zero). This is all part of its 3 month in-orbit checkout period - all looks perfect so far (the official SIRTF site is sirtf.caltech.edu).
