dentists terrify me

I've just come back from a visit to my friendly local dentist - my lower left molar was aching, and i was waaay overdue for a checkup... so it's done. Actually no - I have to go back next Friday for a root canal - the tooth is practically dead, and the pain was coming from a truly gross abscess. The work i'm supposed to be doing at the moment isn't taking my mind totally off teeth - so i blog :-) and catch up on all happenings Flash (and the real world).

There's a new version of the Flash player - 7.0.r19. Release notes are here, not much of particular interest to me aside from some bug fixes, memory management improvements, and changes to loadPolicyFile (the policy file can now be loaded from nonstandard locations, and can be fetched directly from a socket server on any port :)

Macromedia have released the v7 SWF file format specification here. Seems clearer than the v6 docs...

Scary stuff - a NYTimes article "Companies Limit Health Coverage of Many Retirees". I've been dealing with my own policies recently (life insurance, disability benefits, retirement plans) after getting married, buying a house and discovering i'm going to be a dad in under 5 months (!) - it's scary to contemplate and expensive to pull off. I don't understand how less fortunate people even stand a chance.

And for once, something on the music front - The Pixies are getting back together!! That should make Nix happy :-) My song for the moment is "the rasmus - in the shadows" (previously was "evanescence - my immortal").

I've lost the USB cable for my camera, so no pics for the time being... idiot, idiot boy.
