a brilliant weekend ended in a scary experience - which very
very nearly ended in a terrible car accident when we were cut off by a Durban Metro Bakkie this morning. We were heading down the N3 on the way to my work when the stupid Bakkie cut across 3 lanes, coming within an INCH of connecting with the Clio's nose... it would have, if we hadn't already been
skidding burning rubber for about 1/2 a second before. I couldn't have dodged right - we were in the fact lane, with the concrete barrier to the right. I have a whole new appreciation for just how fast 120 km/h actually
is. NDM 164 - i hope you are severely disciplined for endangering my wife and unborn child. I'm not usually the type to phone and complain, but this is an exception - and on the plus side, the council handled my call very well - they didn't apologise on his behalf, but did promise to take the matter very seriously and thanked me for the call. The driver's supervisor will be notified, and they will call me back.
Thank you Lord for watching over us this morning as always, even though I didn't ask you for traveling mercies this morning, thank you for giving me the ability to see the danger coming, and the reactions (and instinctive behavior) to avoid it. Thank you for a good car with great brakes. I'll be driving slower from now on.
It's been many years since i've last seen something happen in slow motion... the last time was also an accident narrowly avoided... i instantly go ice cold all over, as if i'd jumped into a pool in winter. Clair's reaction was to cover her ears... neither of us can figure out how that helps
:-)
At least i'm wide awake to face monday.
