South Africa Struggles to Rebuild (Wired News) is interesting (and it's somehow comforting to see a Wired article whose subject is home
:-). Maybe i'm just naive, or a general optimist, or both - but i've always been positive about this country's future. I'm lucky enough to have an education, and grateful to have been blessed with talents and an outlook that meant i could do what i love, and get paid for it. I was going to be a part of the brain-drain myself - i fell in love with San Francisco CA while backpacking and exploring as much of the US as I could a few years ago. I had a job lined up, and planned to work here for a year to raise the money for a move... but then God had a different plan for me, i met and married Clair, i bought a home, and baby Caleb will be arriving
in a matter of weeks:-)
I'm not sorry i stayed - i
love this country. I love Cape Town too, i could work and live there - but i wouldn't like to work and live in Johannesburg. Durban is home. The climate is fantastic. I love the fact that I can drive 50km to work in 30 minutes, with no traffic jams, and enjoy the scenery most of the way.
Paul found an article on the
first bank transfer using quantum cryptography based on entanglement. It won't be long before the
Ansibles in Ender's world are available
:-)
