the empire of ice cream

I am absolutely fascinated by the concept of Synesthesia. I can't remember when i first came across the term, but you can't help being curious about what it must be like to be a synesthete. MIT has perspectives from two real synesthetes - Carol and Karen - on their site, including audio clips from the women themselves trying to describe their "different" outlook on life. Fascinating stuff.

I digress :-)

The point of this post was to blog the 2003 Nebula Award winners (and to update my book wishlist accordingly - see right :-).

The "Best Novelette" - The Empire of Ice Cream - is fantastic, and even better - it's online at SciFi.com! It's central character is a synesthete, which prompted my finding the links above - William makes you believe you could understand what he feels.
