baby geeks and moons

Insanity is hereditary. You inherit it from your children.
Caleb:
  1. Weighs 4.35 kgs and is 55 cm (almost 2 rulers!) tall - or at least he was last Wednesday. More details tomorrow after his checkup, but he's definitely heavier.
  2. now has a vocabulary of about 7 different goos, gurgles, grunts, squeaks and hums. We have the most ridiculous conversations when I'm changing his nappy.
  3. can hold his head up properly, and almost manages to stop his head from flopping sideways
  4. seems to be trying to smile at me (Clair claims he's smiled at her when I wasn't there, but I don't believe her :)
  5. Hates Billy Ocean, loves Counting Crows and Britney's new song (probably because parts of it sounds like a musical toy)

I'm going to record some of his less rude noises, and post them here soon.

I'm such a geek. Last week during a Software Patterns training course I caught myself trying to apply the blackboard Pattern to my child... *sigh*

In other news, Saturn has two new moons we know about thanks to Cassini - Out from the Shadows: Two New Saturnian Moons

The moons were first seen by Dr. Sebastien Charnoz, a planetary dynamicist working with Dr. Andre Brahic, imaging team member at the University of Paris. "Discovering these faint satellites was an exciting experience, especially the feeling of being the first person to see a new body of our solar system," said Charnoz. "I had looked for such objects for weeks while at my office in Paris, but it was only once on holiday, using my laptop, that my code eventually detected them. This tells me I should take more holidays."
