God save the Queen

god save the queen.jpgI'm no sports fan in general (this is the first post tagged "sport" :-) but you'd have to be an emotionally zombie (or a dedicated pessimist) not to get caught up in all the excitement surrounding the Rugby World Cup. I've never seen the South African flag proudly displayed outside houses before this week - yesterday every 4th person was dressed in green and gold, Bokke branded everything was sold out and there were cars sporting flags all over the place.

This country has plenty wrong with it, but this past week at least I felt extra proudly South African - I don't care if it is just a sport, if national pride is pointless in the bigger scheme, or if nothing really changes because of the win - last night it was great to see so many South Africans standing behind one cause, and to see our president jumping up and down with excitement :-)
